February 19
The Itinerary
All times are EST. If at any point you have to hop out, don’t worry! Everyone will get a recording of each session.
Day One, February 19
Welcome: 11am to 11:15am
Before we start, grab a cup of coffee and warm up with a few exercises led by Liz Colizza, our Head of Couples Therapy, and Lyn Martin, our Head of Sex Therapy.
Session 1, Your Attachment Dance: 11:15am to 12:15pm
All romantic relationships are attachment relationships. Meaning, you and your partner share a deep emotional bond. All of us look at our partner and wonder, “will you be there for me?” In this kickoff session, we’ll unpack attachment and put it in practical terms.
We’ll guide you through reflections and exercises designed to help you identify attachment patterns in your relationship, emotionally reach each other, and meet each other’s needs.
Session 2, The Power of Co-Soothing: 12:30 to 1:45pm
Your emotional bond is powerful. You and your partner possess the incredible ability to soothe and calm each other. That means when emotions get high, you can ground each other and decrease the intensity of the moment together.
In this session, you will work together to explore your emotional worlds and how to meet each other in negative emotions.
We’ll walk you through exercises that help you and your partner regulate yourselves and each other. You’ll learn how to use your presence and the skill of attunement (resonating with your partner’s inner world) to show up for each other.
Session 3, Staying Connected in Conflict: 2pm to 3pm
Conflict either tears us apart or makes us closer. Past wounds or traumas are the biggest threat to current conflicts. In this session, you and your partner will practice vulnerability with each other as you identify past wounds and welcome them into your journey.
We’ll guide you along as you take bold steps to move differently with each other and to honor even the hardest parts of your story.
(Optional: Brief appreciation exercises)
Session 4, Increasing Pleasure in Intimacy: 3:15 to 4:15pm
Your emotional bond is the key to increasing intimacy together. A strong attachment relationship empowers both partners to unlock greater desire and pleasure. In this session, you’ll work together to move through fears and insecurities while you build emotional security.
We’ll invite you to practice in real time what it means to break out of old attachment patterns and ways of relating to each other in order to increase desire and pleasure.
Optional Q&A with Liz & Lyn: 4:30pm to 5pm
You’ll get to ask anonymous questions to Lyn and Liz about any of the topics from the day.
Day Two, April 25
Session 5, Secure Connection that Lasts: 1pm to 2pm
Creating and sustaining a healthy attachment with your partner means showing up for your partner again and again. It means being someone who is predictable, consistent, and engaged. In this final session, we’ll walk you through practical ways to be there for each other in the daily rhythm of your lives.
We’ll help you and your partner identify your strengths and build upon those to create emotional security for both of you.
Optional Q&A with Liz & Lyn: 2:15pm to 3pm
You’ll get to ask anonymous questions to Lyn and Liz about any of the topics covered over the course of the weekend.
